What Does Commercial Auto Insurance Cover?

Commercial auto insurance protects any auto used for business from a wide variety of risks that personal auto policies cannot. It can also protect any personally owned vehicle that performs a commercial use, including food delivery or driving for Uber or Lyft. Such commercial uses aren't usually covered by your individual auto insurance.

Owned and Leased Vehicle Coverage

Commercial auto insurance protects small fleets and large fleets of vehicles from risks encountered on and off the road. This includes vehicles that your business owns or leases and can include vehicles that you rent.

Employee Owned Vehicles Coverage

Your business may employee people who use their own vehicles for commercial use. This may include retail food establishments where employees user their own vehicles to deliver food.

Individually Owned Vehicle Coverage

Driving for Uber or Lyft isn't typically covered by your individual auto insurance. If involved in an accident while working as a driver, your claim could be denied. Commercial auto insurance protects you against risks encountered during commercial use.
