What Does Mobile Home Insurance Cover?

A mobile home is manufactured in a factory and installed later on a piece of land. A traditional home is built at its permanent location. The term "mobile home" is use synonymously with "modular home" and "manufactured home."

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, homes manufactured prior to June 15, 1976 are considered mobile homes. All homes manufactured after June 15, 1976 are manufactured homes.

The insurance protections offered to traditional homes and mobile homes are the same. Often, mobile home insurance is not a special type of homeowners insurance. It is just homeowners insurance. Many insurers will not even ask if you are insuring a mobile home.
